Monster - Everything but monstrousPopulation 20,600 |
"Monster", the name will surprise many. Even in Dutch it also means monster, but the name descends from Latin "Monasterium". However, for an Abbey or Monastery one can now find nothing, but ... here it is: Monster. Just South of The Hague, this village has surprisingly much to offer. Wonderful dunes and beach, especially for families with children as it is definately not that busy or trendy. Just simple sea, sand, surf and on a good sunny day. Few cafetaria for an ice cream or a drink. Enough parking space and a little camping. Monster itself offers a cosy little village with a magnificent windmill. This is a place to be, if you want to enjoy the Northsea "off the beaten path".
| Monster is in the province of South Holland (Dutch Zuid-Holland), located in the west of the country on the North Sea coast. It is one of the most densely populated and industrial of the provinces. | ![]() |
Monster has many things that makes it to a typical Dutch village. Agriculture in the form of horticulture and it's enormous amount of greenhouses. The wonderful windmill that rises high above all the rooftops. Canals that are there especially to drain out the water, as this area is well beneath sea level and a cosy village, with some wonderful churches, as well as local shops and cafes. Yes, one can say that Monster has it all.
