Witham WI Concert (March 30, 2009)
On the 30th March, the Lincolnshire Hospital Band gave a concert and talk to the Witham Group Women's Institute. This was well received by over 100 members and guests. These included Barbara Clay, Chairman of the Federation of the WI Wider Issues Working Group, Ann Leadram, WI Federation Catering Coordinator, both from the Lincolnshire North Federation of WI, Witham Group WI advisor, Rev Sue Bradley and Witham Group Home Economic advisor Molly Andrew.
Angela Tubb, Group Convener of Witham Group WI, organiser of the event said "we always try to ensure our members have the opportunity to enjoy different experiences and to have a well known Brass Band giving us a talk, as well as a concert, was most enjoyable." The evening was light hearted so much so that a Wragby WI member Margaret Saunders volunteered to conduct the band when they played Amparita Roca.
Sue Shorland recently, appointed Musical Director of the LHB said that this type of concert was a first for the band and the playing members had thoroughly enjoyed the evening. One or two of the different musical pieces played may be included in future concerts. Sue was indebted to the very professional manner that the band Chairman, Tracey Robson had presented the talk making the evening a great success. Click here to return to the News page
